Day 37

Okay so it's been awhile.

Thursday - 2/7

I woke up pretty sick last Thursday and have been pretty miserable up until yesterday. I was tempted to skip London Theater but I didn't....it was an easy class....we watched movies most of it. We had to do a little improv but it was nothing compared to Devising London.

After class I decided to go to the library even though I wanted to be in bed. The Regent Campus Library is where most the liberal arts course books are so it was a lot of fun. Babson has a miserable little library with mainly boring old business books. This library had amazing assorted books on EVERYTHING. I was looking for theatre/Shakespeare/Globe books and there were a lot. What was even greater was the fact that right next to them was the Unofficial Guide to Buffy and Angel. I mean any library with a Buffy guide is awesome in my book. So I checked out a few and headed back to Wigram.

I was getting more sick and miserable and what didn't make matter better was there was some emergency in the Tube and I couldn't get on it and neither could anyone else which made Oxford Circus even more crowded than usual and I didn't think that was possible. Getting back to the dorm is walkable but I've never done it alone and don't know the route so I had to find a bus. I got all turned around doing that so an 8min tube ride turned into over an hour of walking up and down the street looking for the right bus stop and taking on back to Victoria. It was horrible. I spent the rest of the night in bed watching Scrubs and reading my books.

Friday - 2/8

Suddefed didn't work too well so I spent all day in bed...watching Scrubs. It was beautiful....except for not being able to breathe through my nose. The fact that I can't recall the day I think means I didn't get out of my pajamas or leave the building.

Saturday - 2/9

Still sick I went to Brighton with Jessy and some of her friends. It was awesome. We woke up early to catch a bus...it took about 2 hours to get there with all the stops and such.

Brighton is this awesome little beach town....not really typical though because it's a pebble beach. There is a BIG pier with food stands and arcades and rides. The best part is they have free deck chairs so you grab something to eat and a chair and just enjoy. My new goal is to go back on a warm day and take a nap in one.

The arcades had mainly those games you put the coin in and theres the moving platform and you try to knock coins over the edge by building enough coins up....I don't know if that description made any sense. I got a pound worth of 2p coins and had some fun. I think I would have done but they weren't giving me the coins I knocked over the edge.

For lunch we got crepes and ate them in the super awesome chairs. I had chocolate and banana which is my favorite. It wasn't as good as Portobello Road but it wasn't bad.

After we just kinda walked through little shops. I bought a new backpack which I love. It's brown and gold and very cool in my opinion.

We had dinner in a little italian place which was really really good. I had a pineapple and ham pizza. The prices were almost as good as the pizza. Theres nothing better then actually sitting down and having a good meal. It was a great way to end the day. So was the bus ride. It was nice getting to see outside the city. It's funny how if you ignore the fact that you are on the wrong side of the road it's a lot like the US.

It was a great day, except for being sick. I can't wait to go back. I'm going to post pictures soon. I went over my internet bandwidth limit so I have to go to McDonalds and use their internet to upload pictures now so I'll try and do it tomorrow.

Sunday - 2/10

I spent all day watching Scrubs and recooping. I was miserable. The one good thing that did happen was Aaron got back from Lisben late and had to crash with me. We had a fun little sleep over.

WAIT! I did do something today. I started writing my paper. It's so easy to block out bad memories. I wrote half of my Tourism Development paper...it was lame.

Monday - 2/11

I took Claritin instead of Suddefed and started to feel better....I still stayed in my sweats most the day and watched Scrubs in bed. I got out for Mcflurry Monday though. They got rid of my Munchie McFlurry though and replaced it with Cadbury Egg...ew. I made up my own, Smartie and Carmel. It wasn't bad....I'm gonna miss my munchies though.

I finished my paper....1500 words...hope I got at least a C.

Yesterday/Tuesday - 2/12

Feeling healthy and back on track. Laura and I left for class a little early so I could print and figure out how to turn in my paper. Here you have to get these cover sheets and drop them in drop slots. You also have to staple everything together....finding a stapler on campus is not as easy as it seems. We had to go to a special Project Support Office just to use one. It was crazy. We had time after so Aaron, Laura and I went to get coffee. We found a random place and the guy kept ignoring me. After he realized it he tried to make up for it by talking to me. Whenever someone from London talks to an American all they really ask about is the Election. I don't really know what's going on in the election so I always come off pretty stupid. I should come up with a pre written answer, pick a candidate and some key facts. It's annoying. I don't understand why they are so interested.

In class a woman came to talk about the Beijing Olympics....it was pretty cool until we realized she didn't know all that much. Her accent was bad too and started giving me a headache but she was sweet so I gave her points for trying and because of her we got out of class really early.

Last night was my first attempted burger night. I bought all my supplies and went to town. It came out alright...everything just tasted a little different. I can't wait for an american burger...yum yum. It was fun though because Laura and I cooked together down in my kitchen. She worked on her assignment for Devising London and had Hamburger Helper and I went all out on my bacon cheeseburger.

Today - 9/13

So I hate Devising London. Dawn is my least favorite person ever. She's making me dance. I don't dance, I can't dance. It's not real dancing either it freaky weird dancing and involves weird moaning noises. I wish she was normal and we could do just a nice made up play about our London adventures...nope. She told us today shes confused at how to incorporate our strenghts into a show. She feels the only thing we're good at is pretending to be funny.

Yoga was pretty bad too because I'm still not getting it. Today we were doing this thing on our backs where we put our legs in the air and I wasn't doing it right so she comes, hugs my legs, and just pulls them up towards the ceiling. She was way too much inside my personal bubble.

I didn't think this class would be as bad as it is. It makes me feel horrible. Luckily I'm in London and typically for as bad as I ever feel there's something that makes it all better. In this case it would be my Valentine's date with Aaron. I'm gonna head up towards where he is staying and go to a pub where there's a live band. I'm excited.

OH! I didn't even talk about what we had to do for class. We had to write Valentines. One to someone and one we would want to receive. Luckily mine were pretty impersonal because I've learned with Dawn anything can be made embarrassing. Some were no so and it got pretty awkward pretty fast. She's crazy.

For dinner I had a BLT which was pretty good, I was impressed. I did some wash so I have clean clothes for once. That's a great feeling.

I haven't seen the plays for class tomorrow so I'm going to skip. I didn't really mean not to see them but one was sold out and being sick didn't make me wanna run to the theater. I'm looking forward to sleeping in. I have Tourism Development at 2 and the economics part is over so we're going to really start learning about tourism which I'm looking forward to.

Time to go finish the newest episode of Scrubs....yep...I watched over 6 seasons worth in about a week...I know..sad...but it was great. I should keep up with posting now and will get pictures up soon. Jeannie
